Maddy’s Mark Partnership with Bristol Bears Foundation Eagle Project
During 2024, Bristol Bears Foundation undertook a comprehensive needs analysis across the region to better understand the challenges facing local communities. The findings, which have informed the Foundation’s Strategic Plan 2025-2028, highlighted concerning levels of physical inactivity and poor mental wellbeing, particularly amongst those living in areas of high deprivation. According to Bristol’s Quality of Life Survey, 24% of people aged 16 and over living in the 10% most deprived areas reported poor mental wellbeing.
Maddy’s Mark is funding The Eagle Project, which is a targeted intervention designed to address these challenges by increasing girls’ participation in physical activity, specifically rugby. Delivered in partnership with secondary schools and local rugby clubs, the programme’s objective is not only to encourage participation in sport but to create lasting engagement that supports physical health, confidence, resilience, and social connection.
