'Jubilee Tree’ was planted in 1899
Clare made this picture in July 2023 only one week before Storm Antoni passed through Sheet Village creating a vertical split in the trunk. That, combined with old age and disease, demanded a radical crown and canopy reduction.
Only time will tell whether the tree will survive,,,
In the meantime, Clare says “I feel proud and privileged, in equal measures, to support Maddy Lawrence’s legacy through my passion, that is photography, by donating 50% of the profits from the sale of this print at £75.00 to Maddy’s Mark, Maddy Lawrence grew up in Sheet, she went to the local primary school, loved her village and spent many hours of her young life playing under the majestic Chestnut Tree that had prime position in the village. The two things closest to her heart were rugby and mental health. Throughout her brief life, Maddy believed fervently in teamwork, mutual support and fellowship, which of course are the values of the women’s rugby community. Maddy’s Mark, the charity created in her memory, is bound to follow that example, to help young women use those principles to promote boldness and resilience.”
Thank you so much Clare for your generous and kind offer.
