We were delighted to help kick off Quins June festival series, where we welcomed girls from across their SWITCH programme to Twickenham Stoop Stadium.
The festival brought together participants who had engaged with SWITCH through curriculum delivery and after-school clubs, giving them the opportunity to put their skills into practice in a supportive, competitive environment.
For many of the girls, the day offered much more than match play. It was a chance to build confidence, work as a team, represent their schools and experience rugby in a professional stadium setting. The festival also helped strengthen the girls’ rugby pathway, providing a clear next step for those looking to continue their rugby journey beyond school.
As part of the day, participants also took part in an NHS Health Workshop focused on menstrual health, helping to educate and empower young people around an important topic that can affect confidence, participation and wellbeing in sport.
This term alone, with the support of Maddy’s Mark and Merton Council, we have:
Engaged more than 2,500 young girls across our boroughs
Introduced many participants to rugby for the first time
Created opportunities for continued participation, development and confidence-building.
