Ava-Rose had never taken part in rugby before Bath Rugby Foundation joined with Maddy’s Mark and bought fun and engaging sessions to St Mary’s Primary School, Writhlington in Radstock.
Taking part in Maddy’s Mark made Ava-Rose feel good about herself because she was learning something new. It raised her confidence realising she could run fast and that no matter who you were, you could take part.
Ava-Rose really enjoyed that this rugby was for girls only. She felt safer trying something new, at a slower pace without the sometimes boisterous nature of boys. Scoring tries made Ava very happy as it was something she had never done before.
Teachers Note
Georgia Clark – Class Teacher
“Session run by Bath Rugby Foundation and Maddy’s Mark have been super engaging, the girls learnt to develop skills over time with plenty of practice. The exercises were skill specific, and the girls learnt key vocabulary to rugby, they applied this during the game play without prompting.”
